Episode 75 Adam Port (Souvenir, Keinemusic, Berlin)

Join us as NOICE! launches anew monthly series of 1 offs sponsored by one of our Residents P toile. the series is called A Perfect Circle and will feature 1 DJ per month on the NOICE! podcast. Today we are proud to present Adam Port

Techno’s biggest flaw is its self-referencial tendency. You know the deal, the common contemporary DJ/Producer steals an Underground Resistance-Record from his older brother at the age of 16 (biographical details may vary, not to impair the facts, though), thus presuming to have found the holy grail (what, of course, nobody is claiming to deny). His world is shrinking down to Detroit, Chicago, New York and Berlin within the following years, he’ll equip himself with records and turntables and not look over the rim of his MKII ever again. Adam Ports biography is different. Adam was Hardcore, when he was 16. No, not Rotterdam-Hardcore. We’re talking New York-, Boston- and Washington D.C.-Hardcore here. It’s a past that he still lives up to, cultivating it in his vegetarian-straight-edge-lifestyle. After that there was HipHop. He got in touch with turntablism, discovered his love for vinyl and evolved to be a skilled DJ for the first time. Then, finally came Techno. This way of tracing down spaces, giving one the best possible chance of self-development, is the essential reason for Ports presence being so unique. There’s no scene-dictated tunnel view in his activities, there is only a pointed emphasis on style, on groove and sophistication. An emphasis, that, because it’s informed by Dub, Danchall, Rap, Soul or even Psychedelic Rock, is advanced enough to always shine through the inflationary characteristic of the genre as notably original. That applies to both, his productions and his DJ-sets. What Adam Port is laying his hands on might have its place within the parameters of House and Techno, but it’s always more than that. It’s his style.

closing out the month of September is none other than Sandro Russo. we thank defrag records for all the hard work the put into the series. come visit us anytime...

Always searching for new and unobvious developments in music, his do sets are hypnotic trips that combine dance and electronic elements with a house, techno and funky touch.
The result is a unique liquid groove with a melodic twist.
He starts his club career in the late ‘80s, when he fell in love with house music through the records of Chicago Tax, Carl Craig’s Detroit sound, Farley Jack Master Funk, Jamie Principle,
Steve Silk Harley and eventually the New York sound created by Masters At Work, Jonnick, Todd Terry.

In 1993 Sandro started his collaboration with Andreino creating Mas Collective; together they produced such songs that became house classics as ‘You Don’t Know”,
‘Another Story’, ‘Molino’s’, ‘Where Were, thanks to the unbelievable support of the American singer Cece Rogers. Working with Cece allowed Sandro to deeply know the American roots of music living unforgettable experiences.

Producing more than 50 tracks, Mas Collective had the chance to work with such artists as: Marc Almond, Susu Bobien, Cinda and Judy Peterson to name a few.
Mass Collective released tracks with Narcotic Reek, Lazuli, Slip’n’Slide and Airlplane and remixed tracks for such international artists as Morgan Page, Jocelyn Brown,
Funky Green Dogs, Celeda until 2002 - 2005 they created their own label, Mo-Do records.

Major experiences were the chance to work for Bedrock Records – John Digweed’s own incredible label for whom they remixed Suryanto’s ‘All I Know’ featuring Morgan Page, and Deep Dish’ Shinichi Records producing ‘In My Mind’, for which Mas Collective used the Anarcrusand pseudonym.

NicoNote singer and performer. The interaction between voice and sound. The experience started with Dippy Site (‘Panorama Astratto’ on Mo-Do Rec) and continued with “Règola”, a concert inspired by Bingen’s Hildegard, Sandro, took care of the sound and the live treatments. Shows were presented in various Contemporary Theaters and Festivals.

Actually Sandro is working hard to manage his label ‘Undercut’ and sub-label ‘Undercut Forward’, created with Limo and Cristian Pugliese aka kriss.
The idea of starting their own label came up as they wanted to print their own productions and, in the meantime giving the chance to young and talented producers to give it a try. Undercut seen as a collector that allows artists to express themselves and their own unique style.

we continue with the 5th installment in our feature on Defrag records recording artists. today we feature the very talented Mario Masullo...

Mario Masullo lives and works in Rome. An active sound artist, label owner, musician and promoter,
all of his outlets are governed by his urge to distil the substance of sounds and ideas, irrespective of any scenes.
He defines his music as empathetic, unexpected and heterogeneous. 'Everything moves, driven by emotions'.
His musical playing field covers a very broad spectrum.
From minimal techno to melancholic dub and structured noise (as mass),
manipulating sounds in other worldly ways, following an old tradition of dub productions.
Together with other artists he starts DEFRAG and DSP Recordings,
one of the most important Italian discographic labels, active in the field of electronic sound.
His numerous trips performing live in Germany, Switzerland, Spain (sonar),
France and China help him solidify his reputation as producer that pushes
the boundaries of acceptable forms of electronic music, feeding his need to discover new music.

Episode 72 P. Toile (Mothership, Channels Rec. Ostwind Ltd.)

Today we have a very special Podcast for you.... little story behind this one. our Beloved Resident P. Toile contacted us as she does every month with her Resident mix for our radio show. she was so happy with the way it came out that she sent us another 45 minute mix along with it.... this is that 45 minute mix.. please join us as we journey through some wonderful house music .. this Is P. Toile....... and We are NOICE!

P.toile is a Berlin based DJ and producer, very active and respected on
the local scene, as well as on an international level. Much thanks to
the consistent quality of her productions.
She was first introduced to electronic music in 1993 and shortly after
that she opened her own record store, “Starbeat”, in her hometown
Kiel. Parallel to that, she started dj-ing and organizing events on a
regular basis. “Groove Complex“, the first one, gave her the chance to
train her DJ skills, playing alongside international DJ’s in front of big
crowds. This experience was important for her national as well as
international recognition.
When moving to Paris in 2001 she started working for the record
distributor “Discograph” as well as promoting the club-bar “Lizard
Lounge” in the heart of Paris. There she met Reynold, who was
promoting international artists through his party “Minimal Dancin” at
the well known club “Nouveau Casino” in Paris and through his record
label “Trenton”, where P.toile soon got involved.
Her first releases on Trenton led her to broader recognition and to
many contacts with international artists from France, Japan, Canada,
Poland, Russia and the USA.
In the beginning of 2006 her heart led her to a more surprising
destination: The troubled Lebanon and more precisely Beirut. There
she was, and still is, regularly dj-ing. Together with local DJ Jade,
owner of the Club “The Basement”, she created a series of Red Cross
charity events called “To Beirut“.
Among the clubs that have hosted this special event are: Berlin’s
Watergate, Paris’ Rex Club and London’s The Key. The project has also
been supported by artists like: Craig Richards, Tiefschwarz, DJ Hell,
Mr. C, M.A.N.D.Y., Oliver Koletzki, Ewan Pearson, Tobi Neumann and
other international DJ’s.
Through the years, P.toile’s sound has developed from French house to
techno house, while funk and soul of the seventies, her main musical
roots, still can be heard in her DJ-sets.
P.Toile released on Trenton, Gold & Liebe, Channels Recordings, Two
Faces, Ostwind, Mothership and Moodmusic. Her productions are
especially speaking to a more mature and music conscious audience,
with productions ranging from down-tempo, to up-lifting house -
minimal - techno, via airy emotional house, always spiced up with
some funk.
Her debut “Sticklip EP“ with remixes of pan/tone and Frank Martiniq
immediately reached the top 50 of Groove Magazine. The EP,
”Migration”, on Channels Recordings, containing remixes by Koljah and
Marcin Czubala, was released in the fall of 2008. As well there was a
remix for the Dubai label Fantasize in cooperation with her production
partner Tigerskin and her Beirut-friends Jade & Diamond Setter.
In the beginning of 2009, P.toile had her first release on the German
label Ostwind Ltd and gave a follow-up to her last release on Claude
von Stroke’s label Mothership.
Coming up in September 2009 is a P.toile remix on Thugfucker’s track
“Seratonin” for Moodmusic.
Along with her work as producer and DJ, P.toile is having a monthly
residency on Proton Radio, an L.A. based webradio station for quality
underground music. On Proton’s Radio show “Noice!”, she’s also
hosting a podcast series called "The Perfect Circle". Beside her own
contributions to this series she’s inviting guest artists on a regular
basis. To check on the podcast and the radio show visit

as promised...
here is a wonderful weekend mix by one fine DJ. Please welcome the ultra Talented Franklin De Costa.

His first releases was way back in 1996 on his own
label Fusion Records (w/ 303 Nation Member,
Patrick Vauillaume).
Under his Tichy moniker various EPs have been
realeased on Frankfurt techno labels until at the end

his distinctive trademark sound with straight
grooves and frisky sound design.
With the concentration on DJing and party
organising Franklin began the extroverted phase of
the studio nerd. In 2003 he started working with
Yapacc and founded the Studiogemeinschaft
project. Along with the infamous Frankfurt DJs Bo
Irion and Miriam Schulte they started "The Green
Empire" events in Frankfurt.

Meanwhile Franklin was gaining more international
recognition with releases on well-known labels
such as Trapez ltd, Karmarouge Noir, Einmaleins
Musik and Treibstoff. His singles entered the charts
of djs worldwide.
Over the last years his dj sets brought him an
extensive gig schedule in many countrys from
Russia to the US to Japan.
2008 he released on the Mobilee sublabel Leena
Resopal Red and Curle. He started also a new
project with Daso which was released on Outils Du

Episode 70 Carola Pisaturo (Claque Music, Tit bit, Playgroud)
September 18, 2009 04:43 AM PDT
itunes pic

we continue our podcast series this week with another rising star. Please welcome Carola Pisaturo.

Electronic music was a discovery and abandonment of inhibitions.
Carola was born in Rome and at the tender age of eight transported to Naples,
Italy with mom and dad.
At eighteen she left home, traveled north and began hanging out in the world of dance music,
which introduced her to electronic sounds. She was captivated.
The sonority of these manipulated compositions opened the port to an enchanted voyage,
delicately preparing for her debut. Her DJ carrier started in 1997, from that point on,
Carola plunged in compulsively exploring and experiencing sounds inspiring her personal path.
In 2002, she graduated in sound engineering and worked for studio productions in Rome and Milan.
Then, it was back to Naples, she built a studio where her impulse twisted and shaped ingenious sounds into her own sleek,
funky style. After achieving her first releases, in 2005 she set up Titbit Music,
which has rapidly become one of the "it" labels for funky, minimal techno.
She has also established the label Claque Musique and the net sister Claque Net as a playground for both well-known artists and newcomers.
Carola lives in Rome, where she continues her exploration and love of release through music.

Kriss is a young and talent producer from the south of italy.
The music had an important role since he was eight years old and started to play piano.
Jazz is his real passion the jamming and the swinging catch his attention,
few times later technology and audio editing programs let Kriss discover a new world.
The potential of the digital modulation and the endless possibilities of computer music push him to fuse analog and digital in a very personal way.
his music is not easy to describe: pumping grooves and killer basslines are the trademarks.
his reserach goes forward when in 2001 he moves to Rimini.
There he was soon supported by other dj / producers as Buck, Limo, Sandro Russo, Pepe & Giaga aka Margot, Franky and Nuel.

Episode 67 Robert Babicz (Kompakt, Defrag, Audiomatique, Treibstoff)
September 03, 2009 03:57 AM PDT
itunes pic

we are excited about or podcasts on NOICE! this month. please welcome Defrag records and booking agency to the October season... and what better way to start it then with SUperstar Robert Babicz.

"A Cheerful Temper", the name of Robert Babicz’s debut album for Systematic Recordings is arguably the best way to describe the Cologne based Pole. Answering the question why he is choosing this specific name, Babicz explains that he feels caught between two worlds: “The real world of everyday life and a surreal dream world comparable to the backdrop of a fairy tale.” Robert’s musical career starts out quite exceptionally and indeed rather fabulously in the early 90s. Right after the phenomenon of Chicago and deep house, techno began to establish itself as a brand new and totally original part of youth culture. In 1989, the year the wall came down, Berlin sees the first big techno happenings like Love Parade and Teknozid. But Cologne also sees many new clubs like the Space club or the Sweatbox. Pioneers of these days were Reinhard and Wolfgang Voigt (now running the Kompakt empire), The Modernist, Mate Galic, Roland Casper and Rob Acid (aka Robert Babicz). Robert’s first release “Happy answer” becomes an unexpectedly big hit. Especially in the UK, on the label London Records the track storms the charts at the same time as M.A.R.R.S. “Pump up the volume” and “Theme from s-express”. More and more acid house influenced records come out and soon they dominateclub culture. Of the time Robert wistfully remembers: “It was an incredibly exciting but also very excessive time of my life with loads of wonderful moments and parties.”At the end of the 90s Robert withdraws somewhat in order to reflect and to reinvent himself. He begins to produce records as Atlon Inc and Dicabor, with an identity completely opposite to that of Rob Acid productions. The quality and the sound standard of these ambient projects become more and more important in his work and at the same time they improve it as he masters new equipment and techniques. In 2001 he meets Marc Romboy and Klaus Derichs and together they create a new platform called Shortcut Recordings dedicated to Robert’s club tracks. After a period of calm and relaxed tracks it is now time to pump up the volume and raise the BPMs again. His productions become very technoish at this stage, moving away from his acid house influences. After Robert collaborates with Marc Romboy on the label Le Petit Prince, Romboy creates Systematic Recordings in the summer of 2004. He asks Robert to remix his first single with the Detroit legend Blake Baxter and to do a new version for Berlin’s house impresario Phonique. On top of that Robert starts to release singles on high profiled imprints like Kompakt, Treibstoff and Steve Bug’s Audiomatique. Those who are following Robert’s career over the years, know that his sound and the standard of his productions reach almost audiophile standards. No surprise then that many well known artists like Martinez, Minilogue or Gabriel Ananda request his special abilities for mastering their productions. One reason for his famous sound stems in part from his collection of old analogue equipment (even from the 60s and 70s) which Robert uses alongside his computer. Besides drum machines like the famous Roland TR808 and TR909, Robert owns a variety of unique machines like special effects and EQs the size of living rooms, some taken from German TV stations to edit their movies and crime shows. He even uses equalizers used by the secret service and compressors used by East German radio stations. It is no wonder then that the sound quality of the album is both graceful and crystal clear. Tracks like “Sin” and “Loosing Memories” surprise with their club compatible deepness while at the same time moving between the genres of Electronica, Techno and classic House. ‘A Cheerful Temper’ is indeed a very special and genre-breaking album full of beautiful electronic club music. In the last few years there has been a proliferation in the amount of people producing really good techno, acid, minimal and everything in between. The majority of these producers are new, but Robert Babicz (aka Rob Acid) is an example of an older producer that has managed to stay relevant by reinventing his sound (to some extent). Many of his new tracks have that trademark acid sound, but what we are listening to is most definitely acid for the 21st century. This man is not stuck in the 1990s, him and his machinedrum are moving with the times. The last year or two have seen a series of quality releases for Babicz on labels like Punkt, Treibstoff and K2, making him a producer to keep an eye on.

Episode 65 Dimi Angélis (Smallville, NL)
August 26, 2009 07:12 AM PDT
itunes pic

we continue our wonderful series of Vassallo's artists with someone we really see a bright future for. please give a NOICE! welcome to Dimi Angélis (Smallville, NL).

Dimi ANgeli’s
Dimi Angélis is a Dutch producer, and techno/house DJ, born on island of Corfu, Greece, but grown up in the Netherlands, where he has been in touch with music since his youth. Until the age of 21 he was inspired and driven by rock music, which he put into practice through playing saxophone and drums. In the summer 1992, during his stay on Mallorca, he discovered house music for the first time. Over the coming years he absorbed influences by various house artists, which inspired him to get actively involved with house music himself: in 1997 he became a DJ. In those early beginnings of his DJ-ing career, he mostly drew influences and inspiration from Dutch artists Angelo, Steve Rachmad, Dimitri and Remy. Soon after, Dimi’s taste and affection towards house were to be refined, and his artistic expression grew to be bound to techno. His biggest influences became Laurent Garnier and predominantly Steve Rachmad and Jeff Mills. Steve Rachmad’s and Jeff Mills’s works remain his greatest inspiration up to the last few years.

The last years have seen a new wave of minimal techno and Dimi has kept developing his sound. Inspired by old as well as new artists who make Detroit House and Old Skool minimal Techno. Major influences now come from people like Daniel Bell, Todd Sines, Joel Mull, Basic Channel, Mike Huckaby and a lot of other new unknown techno and house producers. With his DJ gigs and “new style” techno productions, Dimi has found a way to move forward, keeping up to date with changes in today’s techno and house scene, without forgetting about the past.

Towards the end of 2003 Dimi joined a talented Dutch artist Jeroen Search. Together they produced ep,s like the Ion 01 and 02 EPs, which appeared on Steve Rachmad’s sub-label of Scorp: “Ion”.In 2005, again with Jeroen Search, he released two EPs on the Dutch label Audiosculpture: “Oxygenating EP” and “The Next Level”. Towards the end of 2005 “Counterpart” is born. The alias under which Dimi and Jeroen continue to produce multiple EP’s. Crowning the success of their previous releases, Dimi Angélis and Jeroen Search join hands again to produce “The Martian Mystique” EP on Jeff Mills’s label Mission (6277/Axis) under the “Counterpart” alias.

Currently Dimi Angélis & Jeroen Search have put together a dynamic/energetic live act with a Roland 909 and plenty of hardware. They will be on tour through out the world under the Counterpart alias. The kickoff of Counterpart took place at the Rex Club (Paris) in January 2007, and their debut on Dutch soil was scheduled at Holland’s leading techno event "Awakenings" in the Westergasfabriek in September 2007.

As a wish to unite the contemporary techno diehards, and preserve the underground origins of the techno scene, in September 1999 Dimi has started organizing non-profit underground parties, which usually take place in nature or abandoned lofts. With his concept he attracted many respected artists: Steve Rachmad, Estroe, Petar Dundov, Joel Mull, Shinedoe, Jeroen Search, Seutek, Joachim, Quazar, Steffi, Diskordia, Pelacha, 2000 and One, etc. This is only one of the ways in which Dimi has shown his great affection, talent and artistic potential towards techno. Nowadays the underground techno scene sees new organizers like “Dekmantel/Nachtmantel”, which program Dimi as one of their resident DJ’s and live performances by Counterpart.

So far Dimi Angélis performed at numerous clubs and events, of which the most important ones are the respected Awakenings (Amsterdam), Innercity (Amsterdam), Kozzmozz (Gent, Belgium), REX Club (Paris), Club One (Madrid), Berghain (Berlin), Doornroosje (Nijmegen, Holland), Rio,s (Leeds, UK), Poema (Utrecht, Holland), Mazzo (Amsterdam), 013 (Tilburg, Holland), Tuzla (Bosnia), Effenaar (Eindhoven, Holland), Simplon (Groningen, Holland), Asta (Den Haag, Holland), Melkweg (Amsterdam), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Studio 80 (Amsterdam), Stubnitz Boat (Amsterdam / Rotterdam), Welcome To The Future Festival (Amsterdam), Rockit Outdoor, (Utrecht, Holland), Free Your Mind Festival (Arnhem, Holland), Decadence (Gent, Belgium), De Vloer (Utrecht, Holland), Bootleg (Rotterdam, Holland), De Rechter (Eindhoven,Holland), Speakerplay (Hotel Arena/Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam), etc etc.

Phat on the groove, thick on the basslines and yet subtile on the melodics. When Boris started producing his own sounds four years ago, it became clear that this was one of his talents.

Boris released his first track Matchmaker / Legeres in 2007, together with his friend and musical partner in crime Lauhaus. After its massive success, they released a second track called Revenge Of The Nerds (2008). These two successful releases drew a great deal of attention to Boris as a producer, and soon he was asked to make a remix of Keep On/Matthias Tanzmann. The remix was already highly supported by: Onur Özur, Mathias Kaden, 2000 and One, Tobi Neumann, Anja Schneider, Raresh and many more.

In the mean time Boris was busy producing his No Day Like Monday (2x12), which was released in august 2008 and immediately sold out. It became very popular with artists like: Raresh, Karotte, Kabale und Liebe, Kiko, Magda, Kiki, Djulz, Dave Ellesmere, Dan Curtin and more.

Besides being a DJ he’s also a member of the laptop collaboration “Amsterdam 661 Live. They played on festivals like Welcome to the Future and 5 days Off and the infamous Panoramabar in Berlin.

Together with his friend Rick Nijhout, who is a part of the VJ collective S_loop. He made the TV Jingle for Ster & Cultuur.

Boris is a skillful producer and an amazing DJ. Born with an instinctive funkiness, he has the ability to move any crowd. With international bookings taking him across the border (München, Berlin, Rome, Sofia, London, Barcelona and many more) the future is looking bright.

Episode 63 Julietta (Harry Klein, DE)

We roll on this month with the Vasallo booking agency with the wonderful Julietta. we are NOICE! and we hope you are having a nice summer...
When Julietta discovered the first House parties in the early nineties, Moodymann and Maurizio were two of the producers who captivated her so strongly that she began digging for electronic music by herself. Regularly she remained in miscellaneous record shops, always in search for some new chicago house and detroit records – at that time still without any dj ambitions. She did an interstation at the radio, where she moderated one of the first shows for electronic music throughout south germany. At the end of the nineties she had her first gig at the legendary Ultraschall in Munich, where she was offered a residency straight away.

She always was an activist in Munich nightlife and over the years she already gained an excellent reputation far beyond the German borders – at renowned venues like for instance Panoramabar (Berlin), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Rex (Paris), Colors Studio (Tokyo), Zukunft (Zurich), Flex (Vienna), Club 11 (Amsterdam), KamaKama (Italy), Cocoon (Frankfurt) as well as festivals like Love Parade or Sonnemondsterne. In the meantime, after almost 100 gigs worldwide in the year 2007, she counts besides the famous Harry Klein an increasing number of resident clubs in Europe.

Her style varies somewhere between House and Techno with all its facets and stands out with a mind-blowing mixture of rare old and modern tracks. she has a specific intuition for the right record on the dancefloor, where she manages to build a set that hooks the listener until the last record.

Episode 62 Alland Byallo (KONTROL, Nightlight Music, Forward, SF)

Earlier this year we had the whole Kontrol crew on our radio show. this week we welcome back one of SF's Finest. with the new Album "Brick by Brick" set to be released shortly, we expect great things from this Cat. without further ado, please welcome back: Alland Byallo.

Alland is one of the busiest men in the San Francisco techno community. Having produced electronic music for over 10 years
and DJing for nearly as long Alland come to be an international talent, releasing original material and remixes on respected US
and European record labels such as Liebe*Detail, Floppy Funk, Utensil Recordings and Dirtybird among many others, and headlining
events all over. His music, a blend of old and new elements of techno, house and minimal, is regularly charted and has
been licensed to CD’s released by Universal, OM Records, Proton Music and Airdrop Music.
Alland’s involvement with music didn’t just start from splurging and buying some 1200’s. Having been raised with music since
the age of 5 playing piano, and adding trumpet at age 11, it only seemed natural for Alland to follow up his skills and training
by sharing his taste in quality music with people as a DJ, and pursuing production. Alland is always quite busy in the studio
working hard on his own unique take on electronic dance music for his own Nightlight Music imprint and many other labels. In
2006 Alland founded ElektrUS. This private forum is made specifically to increase European interest in the American minimal
techno / tech-house scene. By providing a simple, central and easy means of communication, ElektrUS streamlines the booking
process and maximizes the productivity of tour booking ventures. The hope is to make the US a more fun and respectable
place for the techno community, and a more profitable venture for European talent and agents. This forum was a large part of
successful US techno bookings in 2007 and 2008, and is set to help more in the coming years.
Not only is Alland a resident, graphic designer and A&R for what is arguably the States’ most respected and notorious techno
night, [KONTROL], he is also booked regularly as the opening act for influences such as Superpitcher, Trentemøller, Michael
Mayer, Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y., Swayzak, Miss Kittin, Modeselektor, Claude VonStroke, Jeff Samuel, Heartthrob,
Redshape, Ambivalent and many others. Alland has quickly grown to be one of the most in-demand Techno talents that SF has
to offer.
Among many great parties, 2007 saw Alland performing live at Seattle‘s Decibel Festival and DJing at Lovefest in San Francisco.
In 2008 Alland played a fantastic DJ set on the Beatport Stage at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF Movement),
a DJ performance at Decibel 2008, and played a successful European tour including gigs at such world famous clubs
as Panoramabar in Berlin and Propoganda Moscow. His recent tour of Europe saw him play rockin sets and building goodwill
at such illustrious clubs as Harry Klein in Munich, Week End club Berlin, Uebel & Gefährlich and Kubik in Hamburg, and Cyprus'
infamous Klub D. And now with his full-length album Brick By Brick due out this summer it’s obvious that the future looks bright
for both him and his label, Nightlight Music.

Episode 61 Dave Pezzner (OM Records, Freerange Records)

this guy has the makings of a superstar. most of the world agrees. Hailing from the Great State of Washington. Please welcome Dave Pezzner.

Freerange Records, Om Records

Up until 2008 Dave Pezzner was virtually unknown to the electronic dance music community, aside from his works in the duo “Jacob London” (Classic Music, Doubledown, U-Freqs). For 16 years he cut his chops with partner Bob Hansen, creating eccentric house and break beat rhythms often crossing the lines between bad-ass, funky and hilarious.

In the winter of 2008, Pezzner took to his own studio to begin work on his first solo output composing songs that are more serious, with an abstract artistic sensibility. Quickly Dave’s catalog began to materialize with a signature sound: Lofty percussive themes with intentions to create hypnotic soundscapes for the body as well as the brain.

It wasn’t long before Pezzner found his first 5 songs scooped up by London-based Freerange Records, covering the first two EP’s of his career, “Other Lover” and the epic three-part masterpiece “Almost Here.” These two EPs garnered him massive support from artists as varied as John Digweed, Laurent Garnier, Peter Kruder, Steve Bug and Ben Watt, setting up Pezzner as a producer on the rise.

These first two releases laid a solid foundation for his career and follow-ups are now in the pipeline on San Francisco's Om Records imprint, London’s Urbantorque Recordings, plus another EP for Freerange. Dave has also got an arsenal of remixes forthcoming for heavyweights including Josh Wink, Mark Farina, and Mike Monday. Its a dizzying number of releases for an emerging artist, but now that Pezzner’s stepped out on his own, he’s definitely got a lot to say.
